1. What is the coolant?
The coolant is an indispensable part of the engine, and is prepared by mixing antifreeze and water in a certain ratio. In general, when the ratio of antifreeze to water is 40:60, the boiling point of the coolant is 106°C and the freezing point is -26°C. When the ratio of antifreeze to water is 50:50, the boiling point of the coolant is 108°C. The freezing point is -38℃.
2. What is the working principle of the coolant?
The coolant circulates in the engine cooling system, taking away excess heat energy generated during engine operation, so that the engine can run at normal operating temperature. When the coolant is insufficient, the engine water temperature will be too high, resulting in damage to engine parts.
3. What are the functions of coolant?
The coolant can play the role of anti-corrosion, anti-cavitation leakage, anti-radiation boiling pot, waterproof scale and anti-freezing, etc., which can keep the cooling system in the best working state and ensure the normal working temperature of the engine.
4. How to use coolant correctly?
For the engine coolant, many users only stay at the level of lack and add it. In fact, the color of the coolant used by different brand models is different, pink, green, blue, etc. These are the different color effects created by the colorant, in order to be easier to be caught when the coolant leaks People have noticed that the difference in color will also make it easy to distinguish different products, to prevent owners from mistakenly adding products that are not suitable for cars.
Different brands of coolant will use different formulations and ratios. If mixed, some unpredictable reactions may occur, which will seriously corrode the sealing rubber ring at the pipeline interface, causing coolant leakage.
5. What is the difference between coolant and antifreeze?
Antifreeze is literally understood as a liquid that prevents liquid from freezing. The full name is antifreeze coolant, which is a coolant containing special additives and a performance component in the coolant. It is mainly used for liquid-cooled engine cooling systems. Antifreeze means. But antifreeze is not completely equivalent to coolant.
Coolant is a liquid that cools an object and refers to a liquid that can cool the engine. The coolant contains water and antifreeze. Water is very limited by temperature, so the antifreeze effect is not very good, and water can only be added to the water tank to control its temperature. The antifreeze is universal for all seasons and has the properties of antifreeze, anti-boiling, anti-scaling, anti-corrosion and so on.
6. What are the precautions for using coolant?
a. Regularly check or replace the coolant: After a long period of use, the additives in the coolant will be consumed, so the coolant needs to be replaced regularly.
b. Cannot use water instead of coolant: If you find that there is a lack of coolant during daily driving, do not add pure water, especially hard water (well water, river water, including tap water). In an emergency, you can add distilled water and purified water. When the proportion of water in the coolant is greater than 30%, the formation of scale will be very serious and should be absolutely prohibited.
c. Regularly remove the dust accumulated in the water tank and engine compartment: If the surface area of the water tank has more dust, the heat dissipation effect during driving will be greatly reduced. When cleaning the dust in the water tank or the engine compartment, avoid flushing the engine compartment directly with water, as this may cause the wire connectors to fall off and damage the original electronic components. The correct approach should be to use a high-pressure air gun to blow the dusty position.
7. How to change the coolant by myself?
When replacing, be sure to remove all the old coolant, then add clean water, start the engine and run it at idle speed for ten minutes to cycle clean. After the shutdown, the clean water will be drained. Filling the new coolant should be done when the engine is cold. Fill the coolant up to the highest mark "MAXT" in the storage tank. Tighten the cover to start the engine. After idling to the normal temperature of the engine, turn off the engine. When the body temperature drops, check The liquid level of the liquid storage tank should be kept at the "MAXT" position to be qualified, otherwise it is necessary to add enough.
8. How to buy coolant?
When purchasing coolant, you can choose according to the lowest temperature of the place where you use it. The freezing point of the coolant is preferably about 15° lower than the local minimum temperature to ensure that the coolant can work normally when the weather is extremely abnormal.
